ÓS — THE JOURNAL

We invite submissions that delve into the theme of the UNSPOKEN. Whether it's confronting the taboo of death, navigating social stigmas, starting difficult conversations, deciphering non-verbal dialogues, or weaving through the nuances of multilingual communication, we seek pieces that illuminate the unsaid aspects of our shared human experience.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Ós — The Journal is open to all writers and artists who have a connection to Iceland. We accept (m)any literary and artistic formats: prose, poetry, visual and experimental poems, translations, cartoons, creative nonfiction, etc. We will consider work in any language, with or without translation.
You may submit translations, but it is your responsibility to secure rights to the translation before it is submitted.
All manuscripts should be sent as .doc or .docx files. File names should mention the language(s) included in the work. If the piece needs a special layout, an extra PDF file will be necessary.
Submissions are limited to: Prose, 2000 words. Poetry, 1–3 poems. Images, 1–3 images.
All illustrations and images should be submitted as scanned or digital files in high-resolution (300dpi). They should be in the horizontal or vertical format and be in RGB or grayscale. Selected works will be printed in black and white, but a color version of your work may be available via QR code.
Audio works considered and, if accepted, will be made available via a printed QR code in the journal.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed.
Previously published work must be free of copyright restrictions.
Proofread before submitting as we cannot guarantee a chance to proofread before publication.
Submissions are read blind and should not contain the author’s name.
All submissions will be read blind by the members of the editorial board of Ós Pressan who will then select the pieces for the Journal. The board reserves the right to decline submissions which are considered offensive or have not complied with the submission guidelines. If your work is featured in our journal, you will receive a complimentary copy.
